Six men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man in Clapham during the early hours of Saturday.
Police were called shortly after 4:30am after reports that the victim had arrived at hospital with a stab wound. He later died from his injuries, and his family has been informed, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Four other men - three aged 22 and one aged 24 - also attended hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening or life-changing. All four have since been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Two additional men, aged 23 and 27, have also been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation. Police inquiries are focused around Tremadoc Road and Clapham High Street, where the incident is believed to have occurred.
Superintendent Mark Gallacher described the incident as “tragic” and said officers are continuing to support the victim’s family. He added that police understand the concern within the local community and that specialist detectives are working to establish exactly what happened.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee confirmed that the stabbing is believed to have taken place at around 4:20am near Tremadoc Road. She noted that inquiries are progressing quickly and that an increased police presence will remain in the area as the investigation continues. Police are urging anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
