KYIV, UKRAINE - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has strongly rejected renewed allegations surrounding his alleged drug use, describing the claims as "crazy" and dismissing them as part of a long running campaign of propaganda.
In remarks reported by Ukrainian media and highlighted by The Kyiv Post, Zelensky denied the accusations during an interview, stating that those promoting the claims were spreading falsehoods designed to undermine his credibility.
The Ukrainian President also addressed comments made by a number of high-profile commentators, including former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, political commentator Candace Owens, and references to remarks attributed to his former press secretary, Yuliia Mendel.
According to the reports, Zelensky rejected suggestions made by Mendel and dismissed the broader allegations as baseless. He also remarked that he does not pay attention to commentary from what he described as "unintelligent people."
Claims regarding Zelensky's alleged drug use have circulated online for several years, particularly across Russian state media, pro Kremlin channels and social media platforms. To date, no credible evidence has been produced to substantiate the allegations, and they have repeatedly been characterised by Ukrainian officials as part of information warfare aimed at discrediting Ukraine's leadership.
The latest comments come as the information battle surrounding Russia's war in Ukraine continues, with both governments regularly accusing each other of spreading misinformation and propaganda.
