Woman in Her 60s Dies After Being Pulled from Water at Wicklow Beach

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Tuesday afternoon, 21 July 2026. The woman was conveyed to hospital but was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

BLAINROE, CO WICKLOW - A woman in her 60s has died after being recovered from the water at Blainroe Beach, south of Wicklow town.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Tuesday afternoon, 21 July 2026. The woman was conveyed to hospital but was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

Garda Statement

"Gardaí assisted the emergency services with a medical incident in the water near Blainroe Beach, Co. Wicklow on Tuesday 21st July 2026. An adult female was conveyed to hospital. The adult female was pronounced deceased on Wednesday 22nd July 2026."

Coast Guard Response

The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin tasked the Greystones Coast Guard Unit to attend the scene following a request from the National Emergency Operations Centre. The casualty was recovered from the water and transferred into the care of the HSE.
