FRESHFORD, CO KILKENNY - A man in his 30s has been killed after being struck by a van in Co Kilkenny, bringing the total number of road deaths this year to 101 - up from 95 at the same point in 2025.
The incident occurred on the R693 near Arigan Bridge, Cooleshal, Freshford, at approximately 9:30am on Wednesday, 23 July 2026.
The man, who was on foot, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford where a postmortem will take place.
Garda Appeal
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly road users travelling from Freshford towards Kilkenny between 9:00am and 9:30am who may have camera footage (including dash-cam).
