The young man, who was in his late teens, sustained critical injuries during an incident at a business premises on Watergate Street at approximately 1.15am on Sunday, 21 June.
Emergency services attended the scene before he was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he remained under specialist medical care.
The teenager sadly passed away on Wednesday, 15 July.
An Garda Síochána confirmed that a post-mortem examination has since been completed. However, the findings are not being released at this time for operational reasons as the investigation remains active.
As part of the Garda investigation, a man in his 30s was arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the alleged assault. He appeared before Navan District Court on Friday, 26 June, and remains before the courts. He is next due to appear before Trim District Court on Tuesday, 28 July.
Because criminal proceedings are ongoing, An Garda Síochána has stated that it cannot comment further on the case.
