Waterford Crews Contain Comeragh Gorse Fire as Wildfire Warnings Remain in Place
Waterford Fire Service has been responding to a gorse fire in the Mahon Falls area of the Comeragh Mountains since it was first reported yesterday at approximately 3pm.
Crews from Dungarvan, Kilmacthomas, and Portlaw attended the scene.

SLIEVENAMON, CO TIPPERARY / CORK - A thin haze of smoke is visible over Cork this morning as crews battle a massive wildfire engulfing Slievenamon mountain, nearly 100km away. Winds have sent thick grey plumes south, with smoke detectable from space on satellite imagery stretching from the mountain down to the East Cork/West Waterford area.
The wildfire has been raging since Monday, 20 July 2026, and a massive multi-agency response is underway.
