Nearly €600,000 worth of drugs seized in Cork

A raid was conducted jointly by the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit and the Cork County North East Divisional Drugs Unit.

Gardaí seized €592,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs following a targeted search operation in Cobh and Cork City.

The Operation & Seizure:

• Location: The joint operation began with a raid on a commercial/business premises in Cobh, Co. Cork, followed by additional search operations at a separate location in Cork City.

• Units Involved: The raid was conducted jointly by the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit and the Cork County North East Divisional Drugs Unit.

Drugs Recovered:

• Suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €484,000.

• Suspected cannabis valued at approximately €108,000.

• Total combined value: €592,000.

Arrest & Legal Proceedings:

• A man in his 30s was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a local Garda station in Co. Cork.

• He has since been formally charged and was due to be brought before a special sitting of the Cork District Court (Anglesea Street) earlier today.

• All seized substances have been sent for technical and forensic analysis, and Garda investigations remain ongoing.
