Man in His 40s Dies in Waterford City Road Traffic Collision on Christmas Day

Waterford City, Ireland – A man in his 40s has tragically died following a collision between an e-scooter and a car in Waterford City on Christmas Day, 25 December 2025.

The collision occurred shortly before 11:00 a.m. at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road, where emergency services, including Gardaí, responded to reports of a serious road traffic collision involving an e-scooter rider and a car.

The man, who was riding the e-scooter, was seriously injured at the scene and transported by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to hospital for treatment.

An Garda Síochána has preserved the collision scene for a forensic investigation and has temporarily closed the junction to facilitate the technical examination. Gardaí are conducting inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone with dash-cam or other footage to contact the Waterford Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda station. They are particularly interested in footage from road users who were travelling on Manor Hill and Hennessy’s Road between approximately 10:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. on Christmas Day.
