LTT Media Statement on Garda failure in Cork.

LTT Media Director Aaron Joyce has contacted Garda Ombudsman and the Minister for Justice following a serious failure by Garda in Cork.

LTT Media can confirm that this afternoon, Director Aaron Joyce formally contacted Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan TD and the Garda Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) regarding what LTT Media believes to be a serious failure by An Garda Síochána to respond to urgent and credible concerns for the safety of a young woman in Cork.

On the night before last, LTT Media was contacted by multiple individuals across Cork City and East Cork who expressed grave concerns that a woman in her twenties may have been held against her will in a caravan in the Farrenree area.

These concerns escalated throughout the evening. LTT Media both telephoned and attended in person to report the matter to An Garda Síochána. The woman's location was identified and all relevant information available to us was provided to Gardaí.

The following morning, the woman was seriously attacked and suffered significant injuries requiring hospital treatment.

LTT Media has requested that the circumstances surrounding the Garda response be fully examined.

This afternoon, Aaron Joyce formally requested that the Garda Ombudsman investigate the matter and has called on the Minister for Justice to urgently examine the concerns raised and ensure that the appropriate review and accountability processes are followed.

LTT Media will continue to pursue this story in the public interest and will report verified facts as they become available. Our thoughts remain with the injured woman, her family and friends, and everyone affected by this serious incident.
