Cork Granddad Embarks on 450km Trek Across Ireland for Daughter Battling MS
Tony Merrigan, a 70-year-old grandfather from Cork, has set out on an extraordinary 450-kilometre walk across Ireland — from Donegal Town to Kinsale, Co Cork — to raise funds for MS Ireland in support of his daughter Laura, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The Mission
Tony's journey, which he has dubbed his own "Irish Camino", is both a test of endurance and a powerful fundraising mission. Over 19 days, he will walk the length of the country, carrying with him the determination to support not just his daughter, but the thousands of families across Ireland living with MS.
The Route
Start: Donegal Town
Finish: Kinsale, Co Cork
Distance: Over 450 km
Duration: 19 days
As Tony approaches the final stretch of his trek, he is expected to pass through the Cork area in the coming days, moving through Mallow, Blarney, and Innishannon before reaching his destination in Kinsale.
How to Support
Tony is encouraging the public to get involved in any way they can:
Join him for a few kilometres along the route
Cheer him on as he passes through your town
Make a donation to his MS Ireland campaign
You can track his progress and show your support directly through the official MS Ireland website.
