Reform UK Councilor Resigns Days After Election Following Adult Content Revelation
A newly elected Reform UK councilor has resigned from his seat just days after last week’s local elections after an investigation revealed his involvement in the adult entertainment industry.
Stephen Mousdell, who had been elected to represent Haydock near St Helens, confirmed he was stepping down following mounting public attention and internal pressure surrounding his online adult content work.

“Due to the immense pressures from the media, from individuals within the town hall, from certain parties and individuals who were not elected as councilor over a conflict of interest with regards to being a public figure in office and doing the Adult profession,” he said, explaining the reasons behind his resignation.
He also revealed the controversy had deeply affected his relationship with his partner, Kevin Lee.
“I haven’t been in the right mental state as my depression and anxiety has been awful due to this and my relationship with Kev has been severely damaged and it has to be my number one priority,” Mousdell said.
Despite stepping down, the former councilor thanked supporters and members of Reform UK who had welcomed him following his election victory.
“I want to also say thank you for giving me this great opportunity and welcoming me into the Reform family but it is a shame that my profession doesn’t fit in with the standards to become councilor in the St Helens Town Hall,” he added.
The controversy has triggered significant discussion across social media and political circles, with some defending Mousdell’s right to private employment outside politics while others argued elected representatives are subject to higher public scrutiny due to the nature of their role.
