Fire services in County Tipperary are continuing to battle wildfires on Slievenamon for a sixth consecutive day, while Wicklow County Council has confirmed that the main fire in Glencree has been extinguished, though some areas are still smouldering.
Tipperary Fire and Rescue Service described the previous evening as particularly challenging, with multiple flare-ups occurring in areas that had already been brought under control.
Massive Wildfire Rages on Slievenamon for Fourth Day
SLIEVENAMON, CO TIPPERARY / CORK - A thin haze of smoke is visible over Cork this morning as crews battle a massive wildfire engulfing Slievenamon mountain, nearly 100km away. Winds have sent thick grey plumes south, with smoke detectable from space on satellite imagery stretching from the mountain down to the East Cork/West Waterford area.
The wildfire has been raging since Monday, 20 July 2026, and a massive multi-agency response is underway.
