Man Freed on Bail After Armed Standoff with Gardaí in Dundalk
A 31-year-old man has been granted bail after appearing in court charged over a public order incident involving an armed standoff with gardaí in Dundalk.
The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Drogheda District Court.
Elderly Couple Killed, Two Critically Injured in Louth Road Crash
The crash occurred shortly before 3:10pm on Thursday, 16 July 2026, near The Bush, Riverstown. The male driver and female passenger, both aged in their 70s, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two occupants of the second vehicle — a male driver and female passenger, both aged in their 30s — were airlifted to Dublin with serious injuries.
