Paraglider Rescued from Hotel Roof in Co. Fermanagh

ENNISKILLEN, 29 December 2025, Emergency services yesterday successfully rescued a paraglider who crashed onto the roof of a hotel in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, in a dramatic incident on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:51 p.m. at the Lough Erne Hotel & Resort near Enniskillen, when a man, believed to be in his 40s, was involved in a collision with the roof while paragliding.

Emergency Response

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) responded swiftly, deploying three fire appliances, two from Enniskillen and one from Lisnaskea, along with a specialist rescue team and a turntable ladder to reach the roof where the paraglider was stranded.

Rescue crews were able to retrieve the man from the second floor roof. He was subsequently handed over to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) at the scene, before being transported to South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen for further examination and treatment.

Hotel Operations and Investigation

The resort confirmed that, aside from the immediate vicinity of the incident, operations were continuing normally, and that existing bookings were not affected. Access to the hotel was temporarily restricted while emergency services conducted their work.
