Man Dies Following House Fire on St Stephen’s Day in Co. Antrim

A man has died following a house fire in Ballymena, County Antrim, on St Stephen’s Day, as emergency services attended the scene of the tragic incident.

The deceased, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead after a fire broke out at a residential property on Waring Street on Friday morning, 26 December.

According to emergency services, reports of the blaze were received shortly before 9:45am, prompting a response from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS). Two fire crews from Ballymena Fire Station attended the incident and worked to bring the fire under control.

Despite their efforts, the man was found deceased at the scene.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage. A routine investigation is now underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire, with inquiries continuing alongside fire service investigators.

No other injuries have been reported, and there is no immediate risk to the wider public.

The incident has cast a shadow over the local community during the Christmas period, with emergency services once again reminding the public of the importance of fire safety, particularly during colder months when the use of heating appliances increases.
