Five injured after alleged crowbar attack at community hospital

A 20-year-old man reportedly started attacking people with a crowbar after being denied a GP

Five individuals have reportedly sustained injuries following an alleged attack by a man wielding a crowbar at a hospital in the UK.

Merseyside Police have arrested a 20 year old male after they were called to the Newton Community Hospital in Newton-le-Willows this afternoon, Tuesday.

According to the Police force, the male arrived at the Hospital requesting an appointment and became "increasingly agitated" when he was denied his request. He allegedly then proceeded to damage a counter before assaulting several people inside the hospital with what is believed to be a crowbar.

Those injured are receiving treatment from paramedics and staff at the hospital for injuries that are not considered life threatening. The detained man, whom police state is originally from Afghanistan, was arrested on suspicion of five counts of Section 18 assault, affray and criminal damage and remains in custody.
